Why did shayne become a zombie

Brain is the only thing that takes them out. If a survivor wants to be a walker, you just have to kill him but don't kill him in the head, you should just do it in any part of his body but not the head.

You understand? In simpler terms, if there is no head trauma inflicted upon a person when they die, they will rise as a walker a short time later. Then again, it could take a very long time say, six hours at most to "re-animate". If you overdose on drugs and die, you become a walker.

The Walking Dead has never hesitated to kill off major characters, but only a select few of those deceased have then returned as zombies. More than just about any other show in TV history, The Walking Dead has become known for its willingness to kill off characters, including key players, and often with zero foreshadowing it was about to happen. That's become part of the show's mass water cooler appeal, as The Walking Dead 's latest casualty often makes for interesting conversation.

Lots and lots of series regulars have been killed off The Walking Dead over the years, but it's only a small subset that's actually held the "distinction" of not only dying, but becoming a member of the undead ranks. Dramatically, this is usually because heroic characters will often opt to take their own lives after being bitten, destroying their brain so they can't reanimate. Sometimes this duty is also carried out by their friends or family. Naturally, few really want their loved ones to shamble around craving human flesh.

Still, characters that don't have control over their ultimate fates obviously can't determine their chances of reanimation, leaving it up to their killer to decide to destroy the brain or not. They often choose not to, for maximum punishment.

Without any further ado, here's all the major Walking Dead characters that have become zombies so far, with more surely to come. Shane Walsh, Rick Grimes' former best friend and police partner, was the first major Walking Dead character to die. He's killed by Rick after Shane makes an attempt to do the same to Rick. After reanimation, zombie Shane is actually shot down by young Carl Grimes.

That almost served as a prelude to the skilled marksman Carl would eventually grow into, under the tutelage of his father. Dudespie said: The virus is inside everyone. If you die from anything disease, old age.. That doesn't involve walkers, you turn into one anyway. If you die in the Walking Dead universe, you turn into a walker.

JaimeIrwin said: the disease is airborne because that's how Randall became a zombie because when Daryl or Glenn check his body, there's no scratches no bites no signs of struggle. To be honest i think Judith is immune to the disease because she was conceived after the apocalypse started and i guess when she was inside Lori or whatever she learned how to fight the disease on her own. Once shot in the head he is a corpse.

Randall also had the disease and he was killed by breakage his neck and when was left there "dead" rose as a zombie soon after. Basically, no one is immune, everyone is sick and there are two ways of being turned; killed without a huge trauma to the head or a bite from a zombie which my theory is increases the disease in the body and accelerates death and immediate zombie transformation.

The only way to kill anyone, zombie or "not zombie", is trauma to the head. No one realised, about all the mix of zombie blood in the parking fight? Shane and Rick got cover their wounds with zombie Blood, this imo count as infection factor Using the Knife, to lure the zombies at the gate also counts. Old thread, but my thought is that yes, everyone is infected and will turn when they die unless they have significant head trauma.

The character's fear of a zombie bite is probably down to the stress of the pain and trauma involved, just like avoiding an attack by an animal. The zombie bite is no doubt dangerous as it's like any other wound, possibly worse as it contains bacteria and infection that will accelerate death, which in turn leads to zombification, but no more than being shot or stabbed below the neck.

TLDR; they are already infected, but being bitten by a zombie will kill you quickly because they are dirty. He wasn't actually shot but stabbed by a knife which must have had "walker" blood on it. That's why I think he got infected. Sign up to join this community. The best answers are voted up and rise to the top. That was already stated, like season 2 or 3, that everyone was already infected.
