Can you walk the mackinac bridge

Portable toilets will be available in St. Ignace and Mackinaw City. Baby strollers and wheelchairs are allowed on the bridge during the walk. Prohibited items include signs, banners, umbrellas, bicycles, roller skates, skateboards, wagons and similar types of devices. With the sole exception of working service dogs, no animals are allowed.

Walkers must stay away from bridge railings. The inside lane in both directions will remain open for emergency vehicles. Playing tag on the bridge is not permitted and no smoking on the bridge, please.

Walkers must be on the side of the bridge they wish to return to before 10 a. Those who choose this option must reach the midpoint before 10 a. Anyone who walks the entire bridge must arrange their own transportation back to the side they started once the bridge reopens to public traffic at noon. In this option, walkers will need to cross the midpoint on their return trip by 10 a.

Both Star Line Ferry and Shepler's Ferry also provide the option of taking a ferry to Mackinac Island from one of the two mainland communities and then taking a 2nd ferry to the other community. Many people using this option take the ferry after their Mackinac Bridge Walk and spend some time on Mackinac Island before taking the second ferry.
